Paint Class X2

Paint Class Fun!!

Saturday was one of my scheduled paint classes.

Had planned on doing the beach painting only.

A friend is moving in to a Saltbox house and wanted something primitive.

I did some research on our favorite tool-Pinterest. Came up with a really cute fall painting that she made her own!

This is my painting.

This is Tammy's!  I love her lighter shading. We worked on the shape of her bird which I like better than mine too!

I created this beach scene from several pictures on Pinterest. I definitely wanted it to be different. I added the grasses on the side. Loved the chain link on the fence posts.

These beautiful ladies wanted to do the beach painting I offered. They did a fabulous job!

I'm so proud to be a Social Art Networking Artist for DecoArt!  They have some fabulous designers.  I try to do 2 classes in month at a local shop Custom Creations.  Try to do the 2nd and 4th Saturday.  I also travel to homes when I have a hostess with friends.

Painting has become a real favorite past-time for me!

Paint Glass with Rebecca Baer Stencils

Happy Wednesday!

I've been playing with my Snow Flurries Stencil from Rebecca Baer.

I used 5.75x5.75 sized stencil.  It does come in 3 sizes.

It was hard to get a good picture!

I did two layers.  One using a frosted silver and blue enamel glass paint by DecoArt.

As you can see below-I had some trouble with this side. But it didn't matter once I did the 2nd stenciling layer. It was covered right up!

After the first layer was dry, I did a 2nd layer with a stenciling brush.

Here's the finished product!  Can be used as a candy dish, or put a lighted candle inside for some sparkling light!

To finish off the top edge, I dabbed frosted silver all the way around.

Technique-Stencil Designing

Stencil Designing

I wanted to tape the neat way to use stencils for some amazing texture and interest on your canvas.

 Here's a 2nd example that I did.

Whimsey girl: Beauty within

Whimsey

I'm not sure why I like to do faces, but I do. In this one I was trying to capture the eyes. She has a haunting look doesn't she? Almost sad.

Girls today are pressured into thinking they have to look a certain way.  I was made fun of in school growing up-1st because I wore glasses, then because I was over weight. I wish I could take the hurt away from young people.  I wish they could really understand they are uniquely made by God-and he loves them just as they are!

I love using DecoArt products.  In this piece, I used the Traditions paint. Heavy body. Coverage is excellent.  After it was done, it was a little flat looking and I added Metallic Lustre to her hair and shirt. DecoArt brushes are really great tools too!

DecoArt Americana Paint is best for Gelli Prints

I love making gelli prints.  I've used a variety of types of paints.  The best I've found is DecoArt Americana Acrylic Paints.  The consistency of the paint is perfect for spreading on the gelli plate.

On all the background gelli prints I used DecoArt Jacobean Floral stencil and the following Americana paint: Autumn Red, Antique Rose, Cadmium Yellow, and Moon Yellow. I changed which order I was putting them on the plate.

This first one I embellished with Unity Stamps I'm so Happy and

Ribbon by Really Reasonable Ribbon.

New Dawn Rooster by Unity Stamps and Wild Orchid Flowers.

This last card-you can really tell how using numerous gelli prints together is like having matching designer paper!!  Except you created it yourself!

The sentiment is from Unity Stamps, flowers from Wild Orchid and Flourishes.

I hope you're inspired to design your own cards. Everyone loves getting a handmade card!

Entering the following challenges:

Mojo Monday challenge 464-last card is using their sketch of the week.

Thanksgiving art with Rebecca Baer Stencil

Happy Labor Day!!

Fall is here!  I am so ready! I love the colors of fall, the weather, pumpkin spice mix-I love it all!

Today I'm sharing with you a 5x7 canvas I quickly made with Rebecca Baer stencil and DecoArt Americana Acrylic Paint.  It's so easy -but makes a great statement!

Here's what your going to learn how to make!!

I started with a coat of Autumn Red. Dry thoroughly.

Next using a palette knife, I applied a coat of Rebecca Baer's Stenciling Gel

over top RB Honeycomb Stencil  -I used the 5.75x5.75, but they come in 3 different sizes.

It's white when you put it on, but allow it to dry overnight and this is the result!  Like magic!!

Then I painted a coat of DecoArt Americana Acrylic Paint Moon Yellow. Wipe it off with baby wipe. Apply another coat and wipe off.  The stencil gel is a resist to the top coat of paint. Everywhere you've applied the gel is going to show the first layer of paint used.

This I added some embellishments and voila!  My finished product.  This 5x7 canvas will fit in a 5x7 frame -just take the glass out and display for all to enjoy.

I hope this will inspire you to make some fall themed decorations for your home!

Happy Fall Y'all!!
