Easter 2013 Layout

Here is the cutest picture ever of our Easter Day with my granddaughter.  She finally kept the bunny ears on!
I checked out the Tuesday Trigger at Moxie Fab World and knew as soon as I saw the inspiration photo that I'd use one of her Easter pictures.  The pastel colors would make a great layout.

Here's the trigger

I also needed a sketch.  So I jumped over to My Creative Sketches

Here's my result:

I used Colorbok paper, gesso & some jewels.  I love it!  Of course, the star of the show is Brianna!

Life is Good layout

Loved the sketch on Scrapbook and Cards Today by Becky Fleck.  The one HERE was in January! I'm behind. LOL  Have tons of photos of my granddaughter.  This layout features photos we took at Cherry Grove Beach, SC Sept 2012.  She was 9 months old and it was her first trip to the beach. She loved it!

I used some Tattered Angels sprays on the paper.  At the bottom I used some modeling paste over a stencil.  My first time-I love it!
I layered some G45, MME and Stampin Up papers. I rubbed some gesso around the edges of the pages as well as the photos. The flowers and butterfly were from my stash.  The letters Dear Libby.  My saying stamped on the notebook page is from Verve Stamps.

I hope you love it-I sure do.

***Online Art Auction***

First, my story:
I am a 7 year cancer survivor.

January 17, 2005 I was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma. Bone cancer in my right bottom jaw.  After being misdiagnosed for 6 months-I was relieved to find out what was wrong.
With a few weeks, the tumor had grown to the size of a base ball.  I couldn't eat (my teeth couldn't close)

Over the next 11 months, I took chemo treatments.  Every Tuesday my parents drove me 100 miles to Baptist Hospital and dropped me off.  Wednesday I'd have my treatment.  Thursday I'd have to take a recovery drug (prevented the chemo from killing me).  Friday, if my blood counts were good-I'd get to go home.

Tuesday-it started all over.  I did this for 11 months.

Thankfully, the tumor shrunk after 4-5 weeks of chemo.  I could eat soft foods again.
July 5th they did surgery and removed my right bottom jaw and replaced it with a bone from my leg.

Started chemo again. Celebrated all the holidays that year from the hospital.  I did make friends with my nurses, CNA's, doctors and one very special lady-Dana Dando.  God puts special people in our life just at the right time.  She was my life saver!

I walked out of the hospital 12/22/05-healed & cancer free!

When I got out of the hospital-I knew I wanted to help other cancer victims.  I started hearing from so many people-telling me of their loved ones that had cancer.  some are survivors-some are not.

I've been on a Relay For Life team ever since.

This year our walk will be 6/21/13 at the Franklin County High School.

I want to use the talent that God has blessed me with to raise money for this fantastic  fund raiser.  I have tons of online talented friends.  I knew they would help me.

If you'd be interested in helping, please let me know.  My email: kconner1961@yahoo.com

If you'd like to help with the auction-please let me know.

Just so you know this is up and up, here is the direct link to my Relay site where any monetary donations will be made.

Trigger Tuesday @ Moxie Fab

The first time I saw this trigger photo I knew I wanted to try the new ombre technique. I love how there are multiple layers of the same color.  I also love the butterfly.

Check it out for yourself at Moxie Fab World: Trigger Tuesday

For the technique inspiration, I referred back to a card Lynn at http://themangoboysandme.blogspot.com/
had done a while back.   She's the BEST at CAS.

The cute little butterflies and the Mother's Day sentiment is from Stampin Up.
I used Tim Holtz Ice Spruce distress ink.
I wanted more details, so I used SU gold smooches around the edges of the butterfly.
I used a fine tip brown pen to outline each one and then highlighted the outside edge with a white Posca pen.

I don't think I've conquered the ombre technique.  I'll keep practicing.
Thanks for stopping by.

Andi Canvas

Have you ever done a mixed media canvas?   They are so easy.
You can mix and match anything you want.
I've used Unity Stamp Set Andi.
I collaged tissue paper on my 8x10 canvas.  Layered some diecuts.  I fussy cut Andi out.
To finish it off I hotglued the string pearls around the edge, the flat back pearls to the flower centers.  I took a Faber Castell White pitt pen and added the dots.

Cutie Pie with Unity

I just got a new order back from Unity.  They had LOTS of good deals.
I used 3 different stamp sets below.  I know-3 in one layout? They mix & match great too!

Love in Return: I stamped the frame outline on the solid pink cardstock
Modern Chit Chat: the speech bubbles & LOL
You are my main squeeze: Itty Bitty by Phyllis Harris is the CUTE little girl huggy her teddy.

I followed Unity's sketch challenge this week.  I'm trying to keep my layouts flatter so I don't tear my albums up.  I made my flowers using Stampin Up punches.  I glued some trim on a circle punch for the centers.  Gave lots of diminsion.  My beautiful vintage lace also adds such a sweet touch.  The paper is a variety of companies: Teresa Collins, Color Bok, MME.
My coloring is done with Derwent Pencils.

Every page I scrap with my granddaughter is perfect!  She gives me inspiration in her sweet smile!

Flower filled card

Over at OWSE one of challenges for March was to make something using flowers.  I have long admired Danielle Daws coloring skills using colored pencils.   Colored pencils are my favorite way to color something.

I started with craft cardstock.  Using a heart template I lightly traced it in the middle of the paper. Stamped 3 different flowers all around. Used black stazon for 2 of them and red ink for one flower.
Using Derwent pencils I colored in the flowers.  It washed away my lines so using a Sharpie fine tip pen I outlined each one again.

Hope you like it!

Craft Studio COMPLETE!

My craft studio is finished!!
Here is my hardwood floor that was under the carpet!
My husband sanded and refinished them. They are fabulous!

I have a metal rack on the right wall for punches.  A towel rack in front of me for punches. Under my desk is a tub on rollers that holds 12x12 paper.  My desk is made with 2 cabinets with drawers and a recycled kitchen counter top.
My upper shelf holds tubs with flowers, button, pearls and a flower pot with all my scissors.
Here's a recycled desk that has a rubber maid 3 drawer unit under it. Housing my ribbon & adhesive. On the left side is a recycled microwave cart.  Embellishments on the top shelf and albums on the bottom.  My paper cutter, bigshot, printer & cricut are handy.

I started organizing my scraps in the 6 drawers on the top shelving. From top to bottom drawer: white/tan, black/brown, pattern paper, pink/red/orange, yellow/green, blue/purple.  I saw this somewhere on a blog & thought maybe I'd use mine more if they were organized a little better.
Here is my recycled wardrobe. My husband took the front off of it and put shelves in it.  We screwed another wire rack on the side for some of my stamp sets.
Your not going to believe it-but there is also a recycled cabinet on TOP of the wardrobe. We took the legs off & carefully shoved it up there!

Talk about storage! Oh My!  Since I recycle a lot of items, A lot of the "stuff" behind the closed doors is old files, boxes, frames, etc.  Not very glamourous I'm afraid.  But I do get a LOT done in here.
I just love the new layout.  I even have a tiny big of space left for a new sewing machine.

Out of commission/Art Studio remodel

I haven't had my studio in a week!  That's the longest I've ever gone without creating.

Don't worry-I was able to reach my colored pencils!
Joined in a technique challenge at OWSE.

We were to close our eyes and doodle on a page and see what we saw.

Here's my completed drawing.  I was really surprised that I immediately saw a duck.
I'd love to have my white gel pen and black fine marker to really doll this picture up.
It will have to do.  Hope you like it.

Pretty cool huh?

These are the before pictures of my craft room.  The room is empty now. Carpet has been pulled up. We've discovered HARDWOOD FLOORS underneath!
It's taking more time to get back into my room since we're redoing the hardwood floor ourselves.

I've painted the walls a solid neutral color since I've been adding things to the walls -it was getting overwhelming with the mural.

Below is a picture of the "stuff" I took out of the room.  Now the furniture pieces have joined it.

Monday-DH is sanding the floors, Tuesday coating with poly.
I'm taking 2 vacation days-Thurs & Friday to move back into my studio.
I can hardly wait!  I've been researching all types of storage ideas.
Trying to figure out what will be best for me.

Stayed tuned for the finished room-hopefully by next Sunday!

OWSE Arch Swap February

I've been participating in a monthly arch swap at OWSE.
For February we were to incorporate a favorite song.
Above is the arch I created.  I started with cream cardstock. Did some stamping and inking.
Then I layered some diecuts (flower and flourish then the heart)
I wrote the lyrics to the song around the edge of the heart.  In the middle I stamped a heart and filled it in with Tattered Rose stickles.  Add some pearls top & bottom and a pink bow.

This is the arch I received from my partner-Amberlee.
Looks as if there are some layers of tissue paper.  Some washi tape with music notes.  The flower is 3-4 layers with gold glitter or stickles and a purple rhinestone in the center.  Lace at the bottom.

She typed the lyrics & posted them on the back:

Never knew I could feel like this
Like I'd never seen the sky before.
Want to vanish inside your kiss,
Everyday I love you more and more...

Come What May, Come What May
I will love you until my dying day!

It's fun seeing what other people's styles are. When the year is done I'll have enough to make an album.
